Obvious
by David Frossard
Obvious was born from a simple conviction: perfume had become a show of status, wrapped in promises of rare ingredients and convoluted stories. David Frossard, who has spent more than twenty years in the world of perfume and is also the creator behind the Frapin fragrances you already know at H Parfums, wanted to strip all of that away and keep only the pleasure of wearing a scent that feels like you.
A former philosophy student, he named his house after Descartes' idea of evidence: a truth you recognise at once, without a long explanation. Beauty needs no justification. The house calls its style "the olfactory clear line": legible compositions where complexity serves the idea instead of showing off. Behind that simplicity are generous formulas, made in France and signed by perfumers such as Fanny Bal, Julien Rasquinet, Amélie Bourgeois and Anne-Sophie Behaghel.
Each scent starts from a place, a ritual or a taste: a pistachio from the markets of the Levant, a matcha latte at the counter, a fig on a Corsican beach, Japanese kakigori shaved ice. Playful, lively and sometimes a little nostalgic, these are perfumes made to be worn, not displayed.
We're delighted to welcome Obvious to H Parfums. Discover the collection at our Montreal boutique.
