Animalic

A perfume is called animalic when it is characterized by notes coming from raw materials of animal origin such as civet, castoreum, ambergris, or tonkin musk. As well as raw materials of plant or synthetic origin such as certain white musks, oud or costus that also have facets giving a furry, bestial side to compositions. These animalic notes are usually found in amber or oriental perfumes.
